Millard Public School's MTSS for Behavior




Millard Public Schools is committed to an integrated approach to academic and behavioral instruction that is based upon a three-tiered model. This model, or Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), represents the integration of academics and behavior as reciprocal in the influence on student success. The provision of supports at each of three levels of MTSS are provided to support the student at the level where there is an identified need whether academic, behavioral or a combination of both. 

Tier 1 (Universal) are those supports that are provided to all students. Tier 1 practices should be implemented with fidelity prior to addressing practices for Tier 2 or 3. 

Tier 2 (Targeted) are additional supports provided to remediate or accelerate student success. 

Tier 3 (Intensive) are individually-responsive supports intended to further remediate or accelerate student success and do not necessarily equate to special education services. Individually-responsive supports are developed based on individual need but may be provided in a small group or individual format. 

Tier 2 and 3 supports are provided in addition to, not in place of, Tier 1 instruction.
